An electric car as a prize for your grades? Dongfeng arrives in Spain with BOXcellence, an initiative that rewards academic excellence
Dongfeng, the Chinese brand making its entry into Spain through Caetano, is launching a unique initiative that rewards the student with the best grade in the university entrance exams with a Dongfeng BOX, its flagship electric model. This is the BOXcellence programme, an initiative that has already delivered the first fully free electric car for the first time to winner Marina Simón, and that will be extended in the coming years.
The combination of education, sustainable mobility and support for new generations gives this brand that extra edge that several brands lack, and it will be remembered not only as a new player in Spain, but as a true agent of change.
Education as a driver of change
Dongfeng has chosen an unconventional path to debut in Spain, backing a project that will reward those who excel in the educational field. Inspired by Nelson Mandela’s famous phrase, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” the BOXcellence programme reflects the brand’s desire to drive academic excellence and foster social progress.

An award for the best talent of 2024
The inaugural award has been granted to Marina Simón, a brilliant Aerospace Engineering student at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. With a perfect score of 14 in the EBAU and an outstanding academic record with a 10 in her high school diploma, Marina has become the first to receive this recognition.
During the award ceremony, Marina shared moving words: “This award symbolises the transformative impact of education and effort. It is a reminder that investing in young people can change lives and pave the way towards a more promising and sustainable future. Thank you to Dongfeng for trusting us, the young people, as agents of change.”
With this strategy, Dongfeng not only positions itself in the competitive Spanish automotive market, but also establishes an emotional bond with its audience, standing out as a brand that does not just sell cars, but also invests in the future of people and the planet.
Dongfeng BOX: the car of tomorrow’s leaders
The Dongfeng BOX is an electric vehicle that stands out for its good balance between quality and price, offering just what is needed at a fair price. It is designed for four occupants, offers ample rear-seat space and a generous boot, though without a parcel shelf. Inside, it stands out for its technological focus and well-executed finishes, with several padded materials on both the dashboard and the doors.
Its powertrain delivers 95 CV, while its 42 kWh battery provides a range of 310 km, extendable to 340 km if used exclusively in urban environments. In addition, it supports fast charging of up to 75 kW, allowing the battery to recover from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes. All this at a starting price of 25,995 euros before incentives, with a 5-year warranty for the car and 8 years for the battery.
