With this new edition of the Bologna Show I always enjoy reviewing the news from a peculiar Italian manufacturer. It concerns DR Motori, which sells cars under license from the Chinese company Chery with its own badges and few other changes, but the products it sells usually come at an attractive price and in many cases are earlier versions of well-known brands, such as the DR5, which is a RAV4 from a couple of generations ago.

But this time, while visiting its website, I came across a curious initiative to promote the brand. It is the DR1 AMBASSADOR, that is, a DR1 wrapped in advertising for the brand. If we keep it on the car for a year, they deduct 2,000 euros from the price, leaving it at 6,830 euros, and it is even available in an LPG version.

The AMBASSADOR dr1_ambassadorprogramme makes clear a few minimum conditions, such as not damaging the vinyls, keeping the car clean, and so on, but without a doubt it is an interesting way to get an extra discount on a car. Ever since I saw it I have been turning it over in my head, and depending on the vehicle and the discount, I might actually accept carrying the brand’s advertising for a while. And what do you think? Would you carry advertising for the brand on your car for a year for 2,000 or 3,000 euros (LPG model)?
