DS m.i.21, the new generation of interiors for the brand's electric cars
The future of DS models is about to arrive, and a preview of it is this manifesto, which anticipates what the interiors of those future cars will look like DS.

About a year ago, Thierry Métroz, the design director of DS, claimed that large screens had no place in the brand. To support this, he said they “were not elegant” and advocated the presence of physical controls. But now, it seems he has retracted those words, reconsidered, and has presented what will be the trend for the brand’s upcoming models. It is DS m.i.21, a study of what they will offer in the cabin of the models the brand will launch in 2030.
This interior design can be seen exceptionally at the Révélations craft and design biennale, held at the Grand Palais Ephémère in Paris. The study shows what the French brand intends in terms of design, with current and modern elements that will offer practical solutions inside the cars.

More than just a large central screen
The main element that stands out in this new interior is the large central screen, which spans the full width of the dashboard. The central console has also become a smooth surface, on which the various controls appear as touch-sensitive buttons. Everything is digitalized and without physical controls. This does not mean it will be the final space, but rather a study on which the interior space of future cars will be designed.

Work has been done on the space, adapting the shape and placement of the dashboard and other elements, arranged so as to offer more space in both practical and visual terms. Light is also a protagonist and shows areas where it sets it apart from other designs the brand has already shown us.
Sound is also important in the interior design of future DS vehicles, so a system has been created to improve this aspect of the cabin. The aim was a look that conveys the elegance that habitually characterizes DS models, and a central element has been created that delivers the most impactful sound experience.
All of this is a proposal, something DS wants to take forward and refine its interior design so that it is different and more attractive. The integration of these proposals will take place later, although they will obviously differ from the images presented at this event, since they will have to be adapted to the real world before reaching the models.
