DS has confirmed that it will launch six new models before 2023. Not much information has emerged about these models, but we know that the electric versions will be produced with the help of the development team behind the DSV-02, the single-seater with which DS competes in Formula E. The French brand’s goal is for 33% of its total sales by the middle of the next decade to come from hybrids or electric vehicles.

A spokesperson for DS has confirmed that the brand’s strategy is to launch one vehicle per year, and that the six models arriving before 2023 will be both new and updated versions of the current range.

The first of the DS models expected will be the next DS 7 Crossback, the brand’s response to the BMW X3. The model will feature a hybrid variant E-Tense with 296 CV of power and a range of 100 kilometres in 100% electric mode. The DS 7 Crossback E-Tense will come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and will be available from spring 2019.

The use of the name E-Tense for the brand’s future models has sparked several rumours suggesting that DS could launch a supercar. A spokesperson for the French brand has already commented on this, making clear that it is not a priority for now, but that they do not rule out launching a car with a halo – an element that protects the driver of an open-top vehicle – in the future.

Meanwhile, the PSA Group has announced that it wants to strengthen its alliance with ChangAn Automobile, a Chinese carmaker that will help it accelerate the development of DS in the Asian region.
