DS7 VAUBAN: armoured, lightweight and with a 300 CV plug-in hybrid powertrain
DS is committed to maximum safety in its plug-in hybrid DS 7 model, and what better way to do it than by using aramids and reinforced materials

DS Automobiles, the prestigious luxury brand of the Stellantis Group, has unveiled its latest innovation in the field of safety at the highest level: the DS 7 Vauban. This plug-in hybrid model comes with armouring included and is based on the already successful DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 300, offering a unique proposition on the market of elegance, technology and protection.
Manufactured in France, the DS 7 Vauban is initially assembled at the Mulhouse plant, where all DS 7 models are produced. Subsequently, the conversion to armoured specification takes place at the WELP France facilities in Hérimoncourt, a former Stellantis plant. This armouring process is characterised by the use of lightweight and resistant materials such as aramids and high-performance polyethylene fibres (HPPE), which allows the additional weight to be kept to just 164 kg, a minimal fraction compared with the more than 1,000 kg that conventional armouring typically adds.

The DS 7 Vauban retains the outstanding performance of the DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 300. Equipped with a 300 CV plug-in hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive, this premium SUV delivers an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds, only 0.2 seconds slower than its unarmoured counterpart. Braking distances and manoeuvrability, supported by the DS Active Scan suspension system, remain practically unchanged.
Maximum-level safety
The DS 7 Vauban achieves a VPAM 4 protection level, sufficient to withstand handguns. The 22 mm security glass and the reinforced structures of steel and HPPE provide an effective barrier against impacts, while the use of aramids in the roof ensures adequate flexibility and protection without compromising weight.

Despite the armouring, the interior of the Vauban does not sacrifice comfort or elegance. Upholsterers supervise the transformation of the cabin to ensure a high-quality finish, with details such as the Vauban interior embossing and special controls that set this model apart. In addition, customers can personalise their vehicle with a wide range of options, from automatic fire extinguishers and closed-circuit ventilation to additional USB sockets and reading lights.
An armoured car for everyone
Unlike other armoured vehicles that require special permits and additional training, the DS 7 Vauban can be driven with a category B licence, the standard in Europe. This accessible and practical approach makes the Vauban an attractive option for business executives, celebrities and anyone seeking greater security without drawing attention.

With a starting price of €165,000, the DS 7 Vauban positions itself as a competitive alternative to traditional armouring options, offering reasonable security without the cost and complications associated with heavier armoured vehicles. The estimated delivery time is six months from the order, allowing customers to enjoy this innovative vehicle in a relatively short time.
The name Vauban pays tribute to the fortifications designed by the French military engineer Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban in the 17th century. These fortifications, renowned for their effectiveness and advanced design, are a fitting symbol for a vehicle that combines the tradition of French engineering with cutting-edge technology to offer protection and elegance.
