That is why the next one will be a pick-up truck. A “Made in America” pick-up that satisfies customers in a segment as distant as that of vehicles for transporting people and goods, with the soul and specifications of an off-roader and a van at the same time.

So much so that the price of the Tesla pick-up should initially be set at, let’s say, a popular level.

And the buzz and interest of and from manufacturers of electric pick-ups, such as, to name but one, Rivian, once Ford has injected enough capital for the start-up to launch fully into conquering the segment of electric pick-up trucks, is just one more sign that these vehicles also have their future on electric platforms.

The dispute is going to be difficult, since large and small manufacturers will offer their electric pick-ups within a few years. That is why both their cost and their range must be one of the selling points when it comes to attracting customers.

It was less than a year ago that Musk himself joined the radio programme where he showed his provocative talents, speaking about controversial topics and offering politically incorrect attitudes.

Behaviour that provokes either affinity or repulsion, since with the figure of Elon Musk there is no middle ground. But, personal stances and assessments aside, it is undeniable that the leader of Tesla knows how to grab attention.

Last week, thanks to a tweet, he hinted that we would learn more details about a new product or innovation at Tesla. And he did not lie, since during the conversation held for the podcast programme of Tesla content distribution called , not linked to the brand, Ride the Lightning revealed important details about the new project, such as the cost of the future pick-up.

Thus, Musk assured that the price of the Tesla pick-up should not exceed 50,000 dollars. An outlay referring to the entry-level version.

He also indicated that, according to the estimates they are already working with, the range of the Tesla pick-up should be around 700-800 km.

Finally, the last detail he also confirmed was that the image shown during the presentation of the Tesla Model Y corresponds to the pick-up truck itself. A vehicle that, by his own account, could well be part of the cast of mechanical stars taking part in a new version or a new instalment of the apocalyptic film Blade Runner.

Although unconfirmed, the Tesla pick-up is expected to be unveiled in 2019 and delivered in or before 2020 or, at the latest, 2021.
