Fast and Furious 9: The End of the "The Rock" Era
One of the highest-grossing film franchises in history is making headlines again after the exclusive about Dwayne Johnson. The American actor has announced he will not be part of the cast of Fast&Furious 9, and the first reactions were not long in coming.
Fast&Furious 9 arrives with surprises. Since his first appearance in Fast&Furious 5 (2011), Dwayne Johnson, better known as “The Rock”, became a reference point within the franchise. His character Luke Hobbs began to win over fans of the fastest and most furious saga.
In his statements, the American actor said: “The plan has always been for the Fast and Furious universe to grow and expand”. A universe that is beginning to expand with the spin-off of the ninth installment, “Hobbs and Shaw”, in which fellow franchise actor Jason Statham (Ian Shaw) appears.
Regarding his absence from the ninth film, Johnson explained: “We’re not in Fast and Furious 9 because they’re going to start shooting now. But who knows what will happen with Fast 10”. In these statements, he does not confirm that his departure from the franchise is final, thus leaving a thread of hope for his fans.
Nobody knows whether his exit from the ninth installment is the decision of the production company or due to his differences with actor Vin Diesel, but what we do know is that the possibility of his return to the franchise remains open; we’ll simply have to wait for the tenth installment to find out.
