Fiat 500 sold out in the United Kingdom

The first batch of the Fiat 500 for the British market is already sold out. In principle they were due 4,500 units when sales began two weeks ago, but dealers have no stock left.
The top brass at Fiat couldn’t be happier with the 500. The waiting list keeps growing and hasn’t been seen since the launch of the new Mini in 2001. Expectation for the model is so high that some are making a fortune from it. Given the shortage of existing units, people are auctioning them on sites like eBay, even at outrageous prices, taking advantage of the fact that the waiting list is long and that there are buyers willing to pay ridiculous sums just to get one.
Thanks to it, Fiat sales rose 12.9% in 2007 and profits doubled in the car division. No wonder the bosses are happy…
