It won’t be long before we know the final look, the equipment and the engines the new Škoda Superb 2015 will feature. The Czech brand’s flagship is being renewed, using as a reference aspects of the design of the Škoda Vision C, which will also be used on other future Škoda models.
It has recently completed the last technical tests in Southern Europe, tests it has also completed in other regions to optimise the operation of all its components, whether mechanical or technological. It will use the new MQB platform of the Volkswagen Group, which is also used by the new Passat, but with some changes to adapt it to the Škoda Superb.
The third generation of this vehicle, according to brand officials and pending official dimensions, will not be longer than the current model, but it will be wider and lower. The dimensions of the outgoing model are already generous, with plenty of space inside the cabin for its occupants and also in terms of boot volume.
“The new Škoda Superb is the best Škoda in history. This latest generation of our flagship will attract new groups of consumers. The Superb’s qualities emphasise the brand’s values and point to the future of Škoda,” explains Chairman of the Board of Management, Winfried Vahland.
The world premiere is expected in mid-February 2015 in Prague, so that a few months later it will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in early May. Sales are planned to begin in mid-2015. To date, 700,000 units of the first and second generations of the Škoda Superb have been delivered.
For now we will have to make do with images of the car, still camouflaged, from the tests it has been carrying out, and with some sketches of what its final look may be, until it is officially presented.
