First official images of the four-door Mazda 3 2010 released

Set to premiere at the Los Angeles Motor Show in one month, the redesigned Japanese compact has been revealed ahead of schedule to confirm what the renders leaked from the European trademark and design office suggested: it will feature a completely new front end combining the traits of its bigger sibling the 6 with the air intakes of the all-new MX-5 unveiled in Paris these past few days.
The side profile will remain unchanged, and at the rear only the taillights differ, with a design very similar to that of the 6. As for engines, the North American market will get the 2.0 and a new 2.5 replacing the 2.3. Nothing is yet known about European engines. The five-door version is also still under wraps and is expected shortly after the California show. Images after the break.
