Fisker drops lawsuit against insurer over Hurricane Sandy damage
Fisker and its Irish insurer have halted the legal action that the American manufacturer launched almost two months ago, seeking a payment of 25 million euros for the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy as it swept through New York.

Last October, as you will all remember, Hurricane Sandy tore through New York and its surroundings. At Port Newark, one of the city’s ports, a batch of Fisker Karmas awaiting delivery to various customers was parked. 16 units were completely destroyed, while many of the 338 parked there suffered various kinds of damage.
Fisker, of course, reported all of this to its insurer so that it would reimburse all the losses caused by the hurricane’s passage. This Irish insurer refused, so the American brand began legal proceedings and sued them, demanding a total of 33 million euros –about 25 million of our beloved euros–.
Almost two months later, the outcome of this lawsuit has become known. Well, more precisely, of this non-lawsuit. Without stating the reasons, both parties have reached an agreement to halt the legal action. Lacking official reasons, several rumors have emerged suggesting the causes: the cars may be of “more use” to Fisker as an uncompensated loss than having to continue with these legal measures, which could reduce their appeal to potential investors.
Whatever the cause, we hope it is made public as soon as possible. What do you think may have happened?
