Ford F-Vision: the 100% electric truck of the future from Ford

At the Hannover Motor Show, Ford surprised everyone present with its new truck concept for the future. The Ford F-Vision looks like it has come straight out of a science fiction film. Thanks to its slim lines and its 100% electric motor, the truck exudes futurism in every centimetre.

Ford is betting on the future that exists beyond the passenger car range. The F-Vision is presented as the American manufacturer’s concept of the commercial vehicle of the future.

Its design looks like it has come straight out of a science fiction film. It will be 100% electric and, as we can see, it is not only attractive in the cab area, but also complements it at the rear.

The F-Vision is a first glimpse of the next-generation F-150, though with clearly more futuristic touches. The company has not said much about the model, but the images show an aerodynamic design that appears to be outstanding.

The concept also features incredibly large wheels and very distinctive underbody sections that have air intakes surrounded by thin LED lights. A video camera integrated into its mirrors can also be seen, along with a peculiar door design for accessing the cab.

The aerodynamic design extends to its cargo area, where the design blends together and three wheels are hidden. The end result is a much more futuristic look than the classic truck we see every day on the motorway.

Surprisingly, Ford was particularly discreet about the F-Vision, yet it will apparently be 100% electric and include a level 4 autonomous driving system. This level would mean the truck could practically drive itself.

The F-Vision uses lightweight components and features an “interactive front end”, which can change design, although we think its specific use, especially in a commercial vehicle, will be to display advertising.

Ford has stated that the F-Vision draws its inspiration from Marvel superheroes, and more specifically from Iron Man. It is striking to think how a fashionable cinema franchise is able to venture even into the world of motoring.

In short, we love the design of this truck concept. It seems the world will gradually come to resemble those films we enjoy so much, of science fiction, though we must not forget that autonomous driving, as far as the transport sector is concerned, could generate controversy and long-term problems, since vehicles would no longer need a driver. But for now, it is pleasant to see concepts that look as good as this one, even if only to admire their striking designs.
