Ford Taurus: First images ahead of its debut at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show

This model is already known in other parts of the world, but the Ford Taurus arrives in China for the first time. It will be presented at the Shanghai 2015 Show, but the American brand has brought the car’s presence forward to an event held before the Show. It will be a premium saloon aimed at the Chinese market, with a look reminiscent of the Ford Fusion, with similar headlights, grille and profile, but larger.

At the front of the Ford Taurus you can see a trapezoidal five-bar grille, flanked by LED headlights, which are accompanied by fog lights that also use this technology. At the rear, LED technology is also used for the tail lights, which are connected to each other by a chrome bar that gives it a rather elegant touch of distinction.

The exterior also features 19-inch alloy wheels with 10 spokes that give it an imposing and attractive appearance. The length of the model is 5,000 millimetres, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, which allows a large and comfortable cabin for both driver and passengers. This means the legroom in the rear is generous, and there is also enough space for the passenger to travel in comfort.

It has 25 storage points, as well as cup holders of different sizes to hold bottles of various dimensions. Care has been taken to ensure that rear occupants travel with as much comfort as possible. An electronic reclining system has been added, and a massage device can optionally be fitted as an optional extra.

In addition, the centre armrest hides the air conditioning controls and other vehicle functions so that the occupants of this space can control them as they wish. The interior is trimmed in quality leather, chrome accents and wood. It also features a full panoramic sunroof to enjoy natural light from above as well.

As for the engine, the Ford Taurus receives the twin-turbo 2.7-litre V6 EcoBoost powerplant, whose output has not yet been revealed. It will be built at the Changan Ford Hangzhou Plant, which has received significant investment from the company. The Ford Taurus will reach the rest of the markets, according to the announcement, in the third quarter of the year, and it is expected not to differ much from this version aimed at the Chinese market.
