From the creators of the fine for turning your head 45º, comes: Put down your phone even when you're on duty

Surely with the curious fines from the different Local Police forces we could write a book, but there are blunders that, besides being curious, are embarrassing and can put other people or an operation at risk. In case you aren’t up to speed, some officers from the Poio Local Police (Pontevedra) fined a number of drivers a few months ago for turning their heads 45 degrees.

It sounds like a joke, but these fines reached about ten people and were 100 euros (50 euros if paid early). Well, now officers from this local police force have messed things up again, fining a National Police officer in the middle of an operation for talking on the phone from an unmarked car.

According to a complaint filed by the SUP, an officer from the Poio Local Police (Pontevedra) may have put a National Police operation against organised crime at risk, by fining an officer for talking on the phone in his unmarked car, while he was tailing a criminal together with other colleagues.

This happened today, when the National Police officers from Pontevedra had to travel to the nearby municipality of Poio as part of an operation against organised crime, and at that moment an officer was fined by the Local Police, even though he showed them his badge and explained that they were in the middle of an operation.
