Full self-driving of Tesla will arrive in Europe in early 2025

Customers of Tesla in the North American market will soon lose the privilege of enjoying this technology within just a few months.

The wait is finally over! The American manufacturer has announced its intention to launch in Europe and China the software that enables full self-driving in its vehicles, also known by the acronym FSD, derived from its name in English “Full Self-Driving“. It was Elon Musk himself who made the news public, assuring that it will be available in these regions during the first quarter of 2025, provided that regulators allow it.

The decision of Tesla to bring its FSD technology to these markets is based on a growth strategy that seeks to capitalise on the growing global demand for electric vehicles and autonomous driving technologies. In China, the electric vehicle market has experienced a significant boom, with a 43.2 per cent increase in sales of this type of vehicle, representing more than 50 per cent of the total car market. This situation has made China a crucial market for Tesla, especially considering the fierce competition from BYD and other local brands that continue to advance in developing similar technologies.

In Europe, the reception of FSD technology could be somewhat more complex due to stricter regulations and the need to adapt the system to comply with the rules of each country. However, recent changes in European regulation have facilitated the introduction of more advanced driver assistance systems, which has paved the way for Tesla.

What everyone was waiting for

The announcement by Tesla has been welcomed with enthusiasm by investors, as shown by the 7 per cent rise in the company’s share price. We can therefore conclude that there is a positive expectation regarding the additional revenue that the expansion of FSD could generate.

In addition to the expansion of FSD, Tesla has also revealed plans to improve and expand the features of its technology, including features such as Smart Summon mode, automatic parking capability, reverse driving in FSD, and in-cabin eye tracking even when wearing sunglasses. This shows the company’s continued focus on improving the user experience and safety.

The announcement by Tesla to bring its FSD technology to Europe and China not only marks a milestone in the global expansion of this technology, but also reflects the company’s confidence in its full self-driving system. In any case, we must not forget that the success of this launch will depend to a large extent on regulatory approval and on its ability to adapt to local regulations.
