GAC Aion UT: this is the new proposal from the Chinese manufacturer
GAC has just unveiled its new model under the Aion badge, a compact car that aims to stand out in this complicated segment with an attractive price.

GAC is making great strides with its range of battery electric vehicles, so it comes as no surprise that it has presented a new model. The GAC Aion UT will be unveiled at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, but the brand has wanted to show the exterior and interior design of the compact model.
The first data comes from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and shows that the model has a length of 4,270 millimetres, a width of 1,850 millimetres and a height of 1,575 millimetres. The wheelbase reaches 2,750 millimetres. All of these figures place it within the range of similar models and give it a more appealing edge for future buyers.

To power this compact, the company has opted to equip it with an electric motor delivering 100 kW, which is equivalent to 136 CV. This motor is powered by energy stored in a lithium iron phosphate battery pack, although its capacity has not been disclosed.

GAC AION UT
The range of the GAC Aion UT has been announced as around 600 kilometres. However, it should be noted that this is under the CLTC homologation cycle, considerably less demanding than the WLTP cycle used in Europe. By comparison, the 68.1 kWh battery of the GAC Aion RT saloon offers a range of 650 kilometres, also under the CLTC cycle.
The launch price of this new model will be 100,000 yuan, equivalent to 13,061 euros. This places it in an advantageous position compared with rival models such as the MG4, which is priced at 115,800 yuan, equivalent to 16,000 euros, and in line with the BYD Dolphin. The latter is priced at 99,800 yuan, so it falls within the same range.
GAC sells its cars in China, but it also has a fairly broad market covering other Asian countries. They reach the markets of Thailand, Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines. The GAC Aion V will soon begin to be sold in Europe, so there is a good chance that it too will reach Europe shortly.
