Galaxy unveils its new E5 SUV and does not rule out its future sale in Europe
As of today, it is already confirmed that Geely will produce a right-hand-drive version of the E5, so we can take for granted that it will be sold in some markets, perhaps the British or the Australian one
Just half a year after presenting the E8 electric saloon, the Chinese giant Geely has just expanded the electric vehicle range of its Galaxy brand with the new E5. An SUV that will soon arrive on the Chinese market and that will subsequently also appear in other markets among which the European one will probably also be included.
The Galaxy E5 is an SUV that would fall into the category of so-called compact SUVs, with dimensions of 4,615 mm long, 1,901 mm wide and 1,670 mm high. To give you an idea, in size it would be quite similar to an Volkswagen ID.4, for example.

Based on the GEA platform –Geely Electric Architecture-, a derivative of the much more popular SEA –Sustainable Experience Architecture-, Geely describes this platform as the world’s first intelligent architecture, resting on four fundamental pillars: hardware, system, ecology and Artificial Intelligence. The GEA platform is valid not only for fully electric vehicles, but also for range-extender electrics, plug-in hybrids and those powered by green methanol.
Does this sound familiar to me?
Looking at the vehicle’s styling, its front end looks fairly conventional, with a fully closed grille and L-shaped daytime running lights at the lower part of the bumper. The brand’s distinctive logo does not go unnoticed either, especially at night when it is illuminated. The light clusters, on the other hand, are rather narrow and have a certain air of those we could find, for example, on a Cupra. Although this last point is a personal opinion.

Seen from the side, the resemblance is much more evident, although in this case to a Porsche Cayenne. The large glass area of the windows and the rear window, with an almost vertical fall of the roofline, makes it perfectly clear that the designers’ priority has been to maximise interior space and the vehicle’s habitability. Likewise, at the rear the most prominent element is the light bar running from side to side.
Finally, as regards its technical specifications, Geely has yet to publish them. Some reports suggest, however, that there will be at least one version equipped with a 160 kW powertrain. The battery pack, on the other hand, will be structural, with all the advantages that this entails.

The Galaxy E5 will reach the Chinese market in the second half of this year. Geely intends to sell this new electric SUV in other markets at a later date, and it is not out of the question that it may also appear in Europe, perhaps next year.
