Geely begins its assault on Europe with two models on sale in Italy
Geely arrives in Italy with the Emgrand EC7 and a compact hatchback, as a beachhead for the European market.

After buying Volvo in 2010, the Chinese brand Geely is preparing to make the big leap into Europe (something it has been announcing for two years), although not with electric models as it originally intended, nor with luxury ones, since that is what Volvo is for. It will do so with two low-cost models: the Geely Emgrand EC7 and a compact hatchback.
The first stop in the “invasion” of Europe will be Italy with these two models, which will be sold online, given the lack of a dealer network, something that is not as necessary today when the internet is a more or less effective way to cut or eliminate costs.
Of the two models mentioned, it is said that prices will be “almost discounted” and that they will come equipped with at least air conditioning and radio. The engines of these two models will start with the 1.5 engine producing 105 hp, or alternatively the 1.8 producing 140 CV, with an LPG version that should be available at a later date, specifically for the Italian market. Geely’s arrival in Italy will be complemented by at least 100 service centres, most of them staffed by the Italian network of Volvo.
Now, Geely’s opportunity could not be better. With Italy and most of Europe facing rather bleak prospects for this year, there is nothing better than starting to flood us with low-cost Chinese cars. And we are still waiting for the moment when its arrival in Spain is made official.
