Geneva Motor Show 2012: Kia

The most important news from Kia at the show was the new Cee’d, in addition to the European presentation of the Track’ster and the Kia Ray EV.

Continuing with everything seen at the Geneva show, Kia has presented the second generation of the Cee’d with a model update, alongside the European presentations of the Kia Ray EV and the Track’ster.

The new Cee’d is longer, lower and more streamlined than the original Cee’d model, with considerably better interior materials than the previous model, judging by what we could see at the show. A wagon version, shown for the first time in Geneva, has also been added.

The engines of the new Cee’d have evolved to offer more economical consumption, a goal that has been the common denominator of almost all the brands present. The Cee’d will feature the 1.4 MPI and 1.6 for the petrol versions and the 1.4 WGT and 1.6 VGT for the diesels. Diesel consumption reaches as low as 3.7 l/100km.

The electric Kia Ray EV was already shown last year, but it was present at this show too, although its development is exclusively for Korea.

As for the Track’ster, it is the concept that stole our attention from the Kia, a much more aggressive variation on the Kia Soul. This version differs from the one that debuted in Chicago, since while that one was equipped with a two-litre engine, this version features a 1.6-litre GDI with 215 hp.
