Geneva Motor Show 2012: Subaru

The highlight that Subaru presented at the Geneva Motor Show is the Impreza 2012, the XV and the BRZ, which we already told you about last month. As for the latter model, it was clear it would be practically identical to the one unveiled in North America, except for the turn indicators, which have been modified to meet European homologation requirements.
Mechanically, it will feature a boxer engine that will deliver a maximum of 200 CV, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox that sends power directly to the rear axle. There is no doubt it is a coupé that should enjoy considerable sales success.

As for the Impreza, Subaru has presented the five-door version, which offers higher-quality interiors than its predecessor, as well as improved safety and reliability. It will also use a boxer engine with symmetrical all-wheel drive. Its third-generation 2.0-litre engine produces 148 CV and 196 Nm at 4,200 rpm. It will be offered with two transmissions: a Lineartronic CVT or a five-speed manual.

Built on this same platform is the new Subaru XV, which our colleague Diego test-drove in January around Madrid. It is an SUV that also comes with all-wheel drive as standard and is one of the Japanese brand’s hopes for strengthening its position in the market even further.
