GM first approached Ford and then Chrysler

Last week, reports from the network revealed that GM and Chrysler were in talks about a possible merger.
However, a report from The Detroit News says that GM first approached Ford with a similar goal, but the talks collapsed immediately, because the company with the oval blue logo’s priority is simplifying its operations, so it wants to sell a percentage of its stake in Mazda.
It seems this story will have interesting variants, because although the two giants could work together perfectly, the level of management required for such a union could further harm the financial situation of both companies.
