The Mini off-roader will not be called Crossman

This is what the global head of sales and marketing Ian Robertson told GoAuto, ruling out any possibility of the nickname “Crossman” by which it had been known until now. He also revealed that the initial all-wheel drive configuration with which the new Mini will go on sale will be joined by a front-wheel drive version, possibly from 2011 onwards.
Production is expected to be entrusted to the independent manufacturer Magna Steyr, which would build 80,000 units a year. The official unveiling is scheduled for the Detroit Motor Show in January 2009. You can find more details on the Paris prototype in this article.
