Goggo Cart, the driverless autonomous vehicle that drives around Las Rozas selling food
It follows a fixed route with defined stops, although the user can also ask it to stop so they can look at or buy its products

Goggo Network, in collaboration with Las Rozas Innova, the municipal company for innovation, has launched the first autonomous vehicle in Western Europe to drive without a driver while selling hot or cold food.
The Goggo Cart is a 100% electric autonomous vehicle with a range of 100 km that can travel at speeds of up to 30 km/h, although on this occasion it is limited to 10 km/h. It has 20 sensors, including cameras and LIDAR, capable of recognising infrastructure, street furniture, pedestrians and even the presence of other vehicles, since at one point on the programmed route it crosses a street with road traffic. In addition, the entire area has been mapped in high definition, with stops already established. However, the user can stop the Goggo Cart in the street to make a purchase simply by approaching the vehicle, which in that case stops automatically.

From the Goggo Cart app (www.goggocart.com), available for iOS and Android, the user can locate the vehicle and see what menu is available at that moment; in this case, sourced from local businesses, with breakfasts from Cafetería Castilla and lunches from El Sarao de Lara. Payment can be made with the phone itself using a “contactless” device. It is equipped to carry hot food at up to 45ºC, as is currently the case, with Spanish potato omelette, chicken… at lunchtime, or cold food at up to 5ºC, as in summer it plans to offer soft drinks and ice creams, among other products.
The delivery of the future has arrived
Founded in 2018, Goggo Network is a startup designed to develop in Europe the engineering legal framework for fleets of autonomous vehicles, with the aim of managing these fleets in the future. The company operates in Spain, France and Germany.

The service, in its testing phase, will be operational in the pedestrian area of Calle Real in Las Rozas (Madrid) for one month, from 9:00 to 18:00. During this period it will always be accompanied by a Goggo Network technician who will assess its performance, its interaction with the public, pedestrians, street furniture and other vehicles, with the ability to intervene in the event of any problem using a remote control. Subsequently, Goggo Cart will operate at La Nave del Ayuntamiento de Madrid (Villaverde) — a meeting point for citizens, companies and professionals in the field of innovation — and from there it will move to the Cuatro Torres Business Area in Madrid.

For Eduardo Uriarte, VP of Technology and Expansion at Goggo Network, “it is an honour to launch the first autonomous food truck service on public roads in Europe, in the city of Las Rozas. It has taken many months of joint work with the Town Council, helping not only to prepare the technology and the vehicle to deliver the best service to citizens, but also because, as pioneers, it was necessary to create the appropriate regulatory framework. We hope that Goggo Cart becomes a unique experience for everyone in Las Rozas and that the local catering sector benefits from it”. José de la Uz, president of Las Rozas Innova and mayor of Las Rozas, adds “Goggo Cart places Las Rozas at the centre of technological innovation and of the public-private collaboration that we want to bring to the city, hand in hand with Las Rozas Innova, to transform and improve the lives of citizens.”
