Hispano Suiza is back with its grand tourer, a 100% electric model that will make its debut in Geneva
The resurgence of Hispano Suiza is just around the corner, an event that will be accompanied by Carmen, a 100% electric grand tourer that will make its debut in Geneva.

Throughout history we have witnessed how numerous countries proudly boasted of being the home of some of the most prestigious car brands, a situation in which Spain also finds itself. We all surely remember the emblematic marque named Hispano Suiza, which was founded in 1904 and based in Barcelona. Over the years, this homegrown brand built countless luxury models, but now it will return stronger than ever with its first 100% electric vehicle, which is set to make its debut at the next Geneva Motor Show.
This is how we will witness the resurgence of one of those brands that made its mark not only on the motoring world, but also on Spanish industry. Now, with much more advanced technology at our disposal, Hispano Suiza has decided to rely on electricity as the main power source for its new offspring, which has been given a very special name.
Carmen, Hispano Suiza’s first 100% electric model
We owe the existence of this brand to Damián Mateu and Marc Birkigt, but this formula must also include a third person, responsible for ensuring that the legacy of Hispano Suiza expanded properly, Carmen Mateu. It was the founder’s daughter who took the reins of the Spanish firm after Damián’s death, placing all her hopes and dreams in Carmen.

Today, Miguel Suqué Mateu is the person at the helm of Hispano Suiza, and he has wished to pay a lovely tribute to Carmen by creating this high-performance vehicle. To do so, the company has decided to name its first 100% electric model after the daughter of its founder, seeking to honour her important work throughout her years as company president.
Sportiness above all
For now there are few details about the upcoming Hispano Suiza Carmen, as the company has only provided us with an image of its structure. However, the Spanish brand has confirmed that it based this innovative model on the 1938 Dubonnet Xenia, which will keep intact the sportiness and luxury present in the vehicles of yesteryear.
But if there is one element of the Carmen we must highlight, it is undoubtedly its super-rigid, hand-made carbon fibre monocoque, an element that quickly reveals the level of power and performance that the latest Hispano Suiza offspring will deliver. In addition, this monocoque will be accompanied by a 100% electric powertrain, supplied courtesy of QEV Technologies, another Spanish company with extensive experience in R&D and in developing components for Formula E.
In this way, Hispano Suiza intends to return to the place it deserves, something it will achieve with technology, luxury and sportiness, the three enchantments with which its new creation will captivate us. It will be at the next edition of the Geneva Motor Show that the Spanish firm will unveil Carmen to us, a vehicle that has arrived to stay and to rival the very best.
