Honda enables a free online tour for its museum

Honda opens its museum to the public through Google Street View. In this way, everyone will be able to enjoy the Japanese models in 360º images.

The Honda Collection Hall, the official museum of Honda, shows us, through a 360-degree virtual view, the entire collection of its manufactured models. A list of more than 350 models that trace the history of the Japanese company from its competition cars to the most iconic road cars, including motorcycles. Everything.

The museum is located at the Japanese Twin Ring Motegi circuit and was opened in 1998 to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary. All motoring enthusiasts around the world now have access to this initiative from Honda, which seeks to keep people entertained during the coronavirus lockdown. Bringing culture into the home is the goal of the Japanese company. In addition, access to the virtual museum is very simple. Honda provides access through two links: one directly to its website and the other directly to Google Street View.

Historic building

We could say that a Honda museum is almost more of an automotive emblem. Something historic. It has three floors that we will tour virtually, just as we would in person. The 70 years of Honda are divided as follows.

On the first floor the tour begins with an important context: who the founders were and what goals they had, so that Honda became what it is today. The brand was created just after World War II, so its founders, Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa, faced a difficult challenge ahead.

The second floor mainly features motorcycles and various engines. It also shows some iconic models such as the 1963 S500, the first car manufactured by Honda in its history, which pioneered red bodywork in Japan. At the motorcycle stand we also find legendary models such as the NR500, the Africa Twin and the CB750 Four.

Honda Collection Hall

The top floor is dedicated to Honda’s sportiness: motorcycles, touring cars and single-seaters with which Honda has competed over the years. Here we find one of the McLaren-Honda of Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, or the NSR500 world champion of Mick Doohan.

Global mindset

The goal of its Collection Hall is to showcase the moment the brand is going through and to put its technology and mobility at the service of people’s well-being. The Japanese company rightly seeks to show off everything it has. And that is why, even though its museum is in Japan and is difficult to visit, it opens its doors to the world.

70 years of history go a long way. Honda is a worldwide known brand that sells its cars in virtually every corner of the planet. In Spain, it concentrates its business unit at the Santa Perpètua de Mogoda plant in Barcelona, with 266 employees.
