How high temperatures can affect the condition of your car
Did you know that some areas of the vehicle can reach 70º in summer? Many parts of the vehicle can also be affected by high temperatures.

Heat can directly affect your safety, so let’s look at the elements most affected by high temperatures.
Fluids
When temperatures are very high, fluids can evaporate. The coolant or antifreeze should be checked regularly, as it is very important for preventing engine overheating. The cooling system must work properly to avoid serious breakdowns caused by high temperatures. The brake fluid and the oil should also be checked.
Tyres
They are designed to withstand high temperatures. However, this does not prevent them from being affected to a greater or lesser extent. Heat increases the chances of blowouts and punctures, and premature wear can occur.
For this reason, it is recommended to check tyre pressure and condition, that is, to make sure they are not worn and have no bulges, cuts or deformations. It is also important to check the spare wheel if the vehicle has one.
Battery
Heat affects this component of the car in particular, as it is very sensitive to sudden changes in temperature. These extra degrees make the acid inside the battery dry out more easily and, if the battery is near the end of its useful life, it is much more likely to fail.
Brakes
The braking system works less effectively in high heat. Prolonged braking should be avoided so that the brakes can cool down.

Hoses
A visual inspection of them is recommended, as heat can accelerate their deterioration.
Screens
They may be affected by losing brightness. Using sunshades not only prevents you from getting burned, but also protects the dashboard.
Remember to avoid parking on the street and in sunny areas. If you can, park in the shade or in a garage. If that is not possible, park as far from the beach as you can to reduce the impact of sea breezes. Protect the interior as much as possible with sunshades and/or window blinds. Carry out maintenance regularly. Also, do not forget to ventilate the vehicle regularly. Use the air conditioning to achieve an optimal temperature. Switch it on before starting your journey.
