Enthusiasts who like to ‘tinker’ with their Hyundai using aftermarket parts are in luck with the production of the Hyundai N Performance

series.
The N of Nürburgring is heavy, and when a brand decides to take the plunge and promote more racing versions of its more restrained products, the result is radically different from the original.

That is what we found out during our road test of the Hyundai i30 N coupé and Fastback, for example. Two cars that were never sold in an extreme version in their original design and which, with the treatment applied by the N department of Hyundai, were transformed from sheep into wolves.

But beyond the intermediate versions, with solutions such as the N Line trim, even on SUVs, enthusiasts who modify their cars were left stuck between the factory product and wishful thinking, unable to adjust or change specific elements that could not be replaced in the packages already installed as standard.

That is why the South Korean firm has presented, at the Seoul Motor Show, the local event for the manufacturer, a line of both aesthetic and mechanical or dynamic performance upgrades. A catalogue that will be available from the end of this year, 2019, and which it previewed late last year with the presentation of the N Options aesthetic line at the Paris Motor Show on the spectacular Hyundai i30 N ‘N Options’ shown below.

Drawing on the knowledge gained in developing its cars under the scrutiny of the N division, a package has been unveiled with up to 45 parts, shown on a Hyundai Veloster N show car.

The most interesting aspect lies in the 14 that directly affect the car’s behaviour: from lightweight wheels fitted with high-performance tyres, to an upgraded braking system, through a specific suspension system. On the styling side, there are the usual elements for these lines, such as mirror caps and others that combine aesthetic differentiation with aerodynamic function, such as the sill covers, a lower lip on the redesigned front bumper, a rear diffuser or a rear spoiler.

Inside, the seats upholstered in Alcantara fabric give a more distinctive character, while the inserts made from carbon fibre work together to lighten the car and future models that may join the Hyundai N Performance catalogue.
