Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo

Infiniti joins a long list of brands such as Mercedes, Nissan, Volkswagen, etc., which have developed a “concept car” for the game Gran Turismo 6, which is exclusive to the PlayStation platform.

The legendary game developed by Polyphony Digital Inc. has sold more than 72 million copies worldwide, so for Infiniti, as well as for the rest of the brands present in the game, it is an unbeatable showcase for their road cars and other avant-garde concepts that only see the light as “concept cars” at motor shows from the virtual world.

The development of the “Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo” began as an internal global competition. The goal was to design a GT-character car bearing the Infiniti badge. The winning sketch was the work of the Infiniti Design Center in Beijing. It features a car with flowing lines from the front to the rear. The large front grille and the big rear diffuser stand out, as do the scissor doors, which are worthy of this racing supercar and make its striking design stand out even more.

The conception process of the “Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo” went through several phases. First the lines were sketched on paper, then refined digitally, and afterwards a model was handcrafted and then digitized again in its final version.

It was not a mere design exercise. Proof of this is that exhaustive research and calculations were carried out on aerodynamics, as well as a hypothetical engine performance. Aspects such as weight distribution and airflow were taken into account, so the work was done meticulously, as if it were a car that could go into production.

For fans of the game Gran Turismo 6 who want to expand their virtual garage, the “Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo” is available since 17 December 2014. The rest is to push the car to the limit and find out what it is capable of on the virtual circuits.
