Infiniti presents its range of performance versions at Pebble Beach: IPL

As in previous editions of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, California, the luxury brand of Nissan is one of the stars of the sixtieth edition taking place this weekend. And as had been rumoured beforehand, the novelty it would bring to the event would be a new line of modified models in the style of the S-Line kits of Audi or M of BMW.
Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) debuts with its own variant of the revamped G Coupé, which receives modifications both outside and inside, as well as mechanically. The exterior is distinguished by a front bumper with aggressive lines, black-painted grilles and integrated fog lamps, side skirts, a rear spoiler, a small wing over the boot and new chrome-finished exhaust outlets.

The cabin features upholstery with red stitching, available in Monaco Red or Graphite, with aluminium trim and footrests and pedals in the same metal. It also offers optional equipment such as the Infiniti Studio on Wheels sound system by Bose, a navigation system, the Music Box with a 9.3 GB hard drive, a voice recognition system and a sunroof.
Other modifications include a exhaust system that reduces back pressure by 30% compared with the conventional one, a recalibrated steering, sport brake discs with four-piston aluminium calipers at the front and two at the rear, and revisions to the VQ37HR V6 engine that raise power by 18 CV to 348 and torque by 8 Nm to 374, delivering more linear acceleration at low revs, a viscous limited-slip differential, and springs that are 20% stiffer at the front and 10% at the rear for more sporting handling.

Infiniti plans to sell the new IPL G Coupé from December in North America, while for the remaining markets it has confirmed that they are still under evaluation. However, it would seem to be an ideal complement for the brand in Europe to make life a little more difficult for BMW, one of its main rivals. Let us hope it eventually arrives.
