Infiniti has unveiled a new concept that will be officially presented at the Beijing Motor Show in 10 days.

We are talking about the QX Sport Inspiration, a prototype that previews the lines of the new SUV from the premium brand Nissan.

Unfortunately, we still have little information about this new prototype, as the brand has been very sparing with official information, even on the audiovisual front, where it has only seen fit to release a single photograph. With this model, the Nissan premium brand wants to preview the basic lines of the brand’s new SUV family.

Currently, Infiniti’s SUV family, at least in Europe, is limited to the QX50 and QX70. Both are vehicles that are already several years old and, although they age well thanks to their modernist design and because they are not seen that often on the streets, they are still somewhat outdated lines.

With the QX Sport Inspiration, Infiniti signals its desire to take a step forward and leave its competition behind. The first model to come from this prototype will be a mid-size SUV, set to compete with the Lexus NX, Mercedes GLC and Audi Q5.

The design of the QX Sport Inspiration shows its strength and presence with very fluid light units that start at the grille and extend almost to the front fender. Speaking of the grille, Infiniti seems to have decided to make it ever larger, emphasizing the aggressiveness and sportiness of the design.

The wheel arches, especially wide, also stand out, and match perfectly with the sharp, taut lines of the bodywork. Without a doubt, the people at Infiniti have chosen to create a design that excites, something the current models cannot boast of, with somewhat bland lines, especially the QX50.

Mechanically, no details are known yet, but it is possible that it will use the brand’s new twin-turbo petrol engine, which we saw a few weeks ago in the new Q50 Coupé. It will be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and all-wheel drive may also be offered. Taking advantage of synergies with Mercedes-Benz, the production version will most likely adopt the 2.2 diesel engine from the German brand.
