Is Lewis Hamilton interested in the Mercedes-AMG One?

The Formula 1 world champion gets firsthand experience of the road version closest to his race car

It is widely known that Lewis Hamilton, who once again won the Formula 1 world championship in the now-defunct 2019 season, his fifth title, travelled to the Mercedes-AMG testing and development track in Germany to see with his own eyes the evolution of what will be the brand new hypercar from the marque whose star he defends.

Hamilton’s interest in the Mercedes-AMG One is evident, as can be seen in the published video. As a true lover of high-performance cars, luxury and exclusivity, the British driver makes no secret of his excitement about one of the most interesting cars, which we expect to show its definitive version in the coming months.

That proximity may be why, besides being a brand ambassador, Hamilton has wanted to get even closer to one of the sports cars set to join his brand-new collection of dream cars.

Other drivers, such as his teammate Valtteri Bottas and, even more so, his former teammate and also world champion, as well as now popular YouTuber, Nico Rosberg, have also set their sights on the plug-in hybrid sports car.

The car, which will go into production next year, will reach its owners with an EQ Power+ setup, an architecture with four electric motors combined with a petrol-powered block, a 1.6-litre V6, derived directly from the one used by Mercedes-AMG in its Formula 1 single-seaters, which will deliver around 1,000 CV and exceed 350 km/h top speed.

The car will have a battery that allows it to travel just over 25 km in 100% electric mode. Aerodynamics is fundamental on this car, which stands as the spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR for the 21st century or, at least, for the decade we will usher in within the coming weeks.
