iShare: the Spanish electric concept car

The iShare is a small urban electric vehicle, which boasts an outrageously small size that seems set to become the standard according to the design concepts planned for the future; minimalism taken to its maximum expression. However, it is an entirely Spanish project aimed at car sharing systems.

It was designed by Applus Idiada, a company dedicated to design, engineering, testing and homologation services for the automotive sector. It appears to be even smaller than a Smart, a two-seater with room for two hand luggage bags and interiors designed with materials and components that are easily replaceable, which can be renewed quickly, given that it will be used by many people.

No further details have been given about the technical specifications of the iShare, but it can at least be said that it tries to be a concept a little more eye-catching than a Renault Twizy, for example. At least it has doors and a fully enclosed cabin, and it is suitable for intensive use over short periods of time, simply to get from one point to another, which is the idea behind car sharing.

The company first presented the iShare in China, since they are aware of the impressive potential of that market for the development of new technologies. Nevertheless, the iShare will not yet go into series production; rather, it is a showcase of Applus’s capabilities in automotive engineering. In a parallel development to the iShare, they are about to unveil an electric sports car with 1,000 CV, called Volar-E.
