JAECOO 5: the new SUV with its big brother's 1.6TGDI engine, rated at 145 CV, arrives in Spain
At 4,380 mm long, the JAECOO 5 strikes a perfect balance between compact dimensions and interior space, and its 1.6TGDI engine delivering 145 CV ensures both power and efficiency
JAECOO, part of the automotive giant Chery, has already made its move in Spain by launching the new JAECOO 7, an SUV offering plug-in hybrid powertrains of up to 324 CV and a more efficient 145 CV version, where we first saw them at the MCE and later at their presentation in Toledo. Now they are launching the new JAECOO 5, a novel compact SUV that promises to revolutionise the segment thanks to a perfect combination of design, advanced technology and performance.
A compact SUV ready for action
The JAECOO 5 is not just another compact SUV; it is an off-roader that has passed extreme tests, covering more than 2 million kilometres to ensure it can handle any challenge the road throws at it. With refined suspension and cutting-edge technology, this vehicle offers three driving modes—Normal, Eco and Sport—and hill descent control to move with agility over any terrain.

In terms of powertrains, the JAECOO 5 will arrive in Spain in 2025, initially with a petrol version 1.6TGDI rated at 145 CV, a 7-speed automatic gearbox and 4×2 traction. However, the range will not stop there: hybrid and 100% electric versions are also planned, broadening the options for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint without giving up the performance of an off-roader.
Elegant and powerful exterior design
The design of the JAECOO 5 is unmistakable and reflects the brand’s personality. With clean lines, a cubic style and sculpted shapes, this compact SUV stands out both in the urban jungle and on the most demanding roads. The front of the vehicle is distinguished by its emblematic grille, evoking the flow of a waterfall, accompanied by elongated headlights that group together essential lighting functions.
The sides follow a minimalist philosophy, with flat surfaces that reinforce the robustness of the model. Details such as the black-painted C-pillar and the rear spoiler accentuate the “floating roof” effect, giving it a touch of sophistication. The slim, elongated rear LED lights complete a design that conveys modernity and solidity.

Interior packed with technology
Upon entering the JAECOO 5, the first thing that catches the eye is the high-quality ambience and advanced technology. The interior, designed with clean, well-structured surfaces, reflects the brand’s focus on functionality and comfort. The antibacterial upholstery not only adds a premium touch but is also designed for those who travel with their pets, under the “human-pet friendly” philosophy. The materials, resistant and easy to clean, ensure that both humans and animals enjoy every journey.
A central touchscreen of 13.2 inches dominates the instrument panel, from which the entire infotainment system and some advanced safety functions are controlled. Among them, the 540º camera stands out, providing a full view of the surroundings, useful for manoeuvring in the city or for off-road adventures. In addition, the multifunction steering wheel houses an additional 8.88-inch display, which presents the vehicle’s basic information clearly and accessibly.

Comfort with room for everyone
The JAECOO 5 offers surprisingly generous interior space thanks to its optimised platform, with a habitable area of 82.8%. The panoramic sunroof and large glazed surfaces enhance the feeling of spaciousness, allowing every passenger to enjoy clear views throughout the journey. For lovers of outdoor adventures, the boot with a capacity of up to 1,180 litres, hooks to secure loads, and multi-purpose camping lights make the JAECOO 5 the perfect companion for weekend getaways.
Safe and versatile
Safety does not fall behind in the JAECOO 5. With 19 driver assistance systems, this model is designed to offer safe driving in any environment. Whether in the city or on rural roads, the driving modes and hill descent control ensure reliable handling even on low-grip surfaces.

Furthermore, the towing capacity of 1,250 kg and the roof rack capable of supporting 75 kg make this SUV ideal for those seeking a versatile vehicle that serves not only for everyday use but is also prepared for the most demanding adventures.
