Jaguar will thus become one of the first traditional manufacturers, with a long history behind it, to sell exclusively electric vehicles

We already knew that Jaguar’s plans involved becoming an all-electric manufacturer in the near future, but we did not expect this to happen so soon. The British manufacturer has just announced that the company is set to carry out the most radical change in its entire history on its assembly lines, ending production of all combustion-engine models in June 2024. That is, in just three months.

This decision is part of the company’s new strategy, which involves starting a transition period that will culminate in 2025, when Jaguar’s range will only offer fully electric vehicles.

Curiously, however, the company’s plans also include ending sales of the only electric model currently in the brand’s lineup, the I-Pace. Launched in 2018, sales of this electric SUV have gradually declined over the past few years, and the company has decided the time has come for it to be replaced, ending its production at the end of this same year.

The new Jaguar will hit the road in 2025

Jaguar will thus enter the second half of this decade with a completely renewed and fully electric range. The British manufacturer has already announced its intention to launch three new electric models, all based on the company’s JEA platform – Jaguar Electric Architecture-.

The first of these will be a four-seat GT Premium with more than 440 kW of power and a WLTP range of nearly 700 km, designed to compete with rivals such as the Porsche Taycan or the Audi e-tron GT, and which the company promises will be the most radical Jaguar produced to date. Its price, obviously, will not be within everyone’s reach, clearly exceeding five figures.

Finally, it is worth noting that Jaguar’s management assures that the transition plan to be carried out during the second half of this year has been meticulously designed to maintain sufficient stock of combustion-engine vehicles so that sales do not drop sharply until the arrival of the manufacturer’s new generation of electric models. This ensures that the entire transition process is smooth and minimally disruptive, both for the company itself and for dealers and customers.
