Jeep Renegade 4xe First Edition: an SUV with a 0 Label and a comprehensive standard equipment list

The Jeep Renegade 4xe is now a reality, so the brand will offer the limited First Edition version with a comprehensive standard equipment list

Jeep has begun the process of electrifying its range, and has presented its two new plug-in hybrid models: the Jeep Renegade 4xe and the Jeep Compass 4xe. To celebrate this important launch, the company will bring the First Edition special editions to its dealerships.

These can be paired with two trim levels: Urban and Off-Road. As you can imagine from their names, the first has a focus on on-road use, while the second has a more adventurous style -though not as much as the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon we tested a few months ago-. They will be easy to tell apart just by looking at the wheel arches, as the first will feature 19-inch alloy wheels and the second will have 17-inch wheels.

Jeep Renegade 4xe (5)240 CV for the new Jeep PHEV

However, the most important aspect of the new Jeep Renegade 4xe is its plug-in hybrid powertrain. This consists of a 1.3-litre combustion engine producing 180 CV, combined with an electric motor that adds another 60 CV. When both work together, they deliver 240 CV and 525 Nm of torque, not bad for an urban SUV. To send this power to the road, it features an all-wheel-drive system and a six-speed automatic gearbox.

As for its batteries, they have a capacity of 11 kWh, so the brand claims the electric range of the Jeep Renegade 4xe reaches 50 kilometres. This means it qualifies for the DGT’s 0 Label.

To manage the power delivery from both engines, the plug-in hybrid SUV from Jeep offers three operating modes: Hybrid, E-Save and Full Electric. The first aims for the combustion and electric motors to work together for maximum efficiency. The second deactivates the electric motor to preserve battery charge, in case we want to save it for a trip so we can enter the city in electric mode. The last available mode lets the electric motor be the only source of propulsion, something it can do at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

How much does the Jeep Renegade 4xe First Edition cost?

The Jeep Renegade 4xe will sit at the top of the urban SUV range, so it comes with a matching standard equipment list: Full LED headlights, the Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch TFT screen showing battery status and range information, blind-spot detection, a rear camera, and more. The brand has also added a 7.4 kW Wallbox to the standard equipment of the First Edition versions, with which we can charge the car in an hour and a half.

If you’re thinking of getting a Jeep Renegade 4xe First Edition, you should hurry, since the brand has the reservation period open until 9 March. To secure it, a 500-euro deposit must be paid.

All that’s left is to know the price of the Jeep Renegade 4xe First Edition, which will sell in our market for 40,900 euros. We’ll have to wait until summer for this PHEV version to be available with the Longitude, Limited, S and Trailhawk trim levels.
