KIA Concept EV9: the preview of the brand's first electric SUV

With a series of teaser images, KIA has given us the first glimpses of what will be its first full-size, fully electric SUV

KIA Concept EV9

KIA has just published the first images of its long-awaited full-size SUV with 100% electric propulsion. A concept that will serve as a preview of the definitive production model, which is expected to reach our streets in the coming years as part of KIA’s so-called “Plan S”, with which the South Korean brand aims to launch 11 electric cars by 2026.

A truly innovative design, a cutting-edge technology package and an advanced propulsion system are the pillars on which this full-size SUV will be built, and it will become the flagship of the brand when it is launched on the market.

The KIA Concept EV9 will be presented on 17 November at the Los Angeles Convention Center on the occasion of AutoMobility LA. An event that will undoubtedly be largely led by this prototype, which we have been able to observe thanks to the images published by the brand.

Looking very good

In these images, KIA has wanted to highlight the ultra-modern and contemporary exterior of this SUV thanks to its “upright and energetic stylistic presence”, with muscular shapes, a prominent bonnet and rather distinctive lighting units.

These images also let us see its interior, which has been refined to offer both the driver and the other occupants a high level of habitability and digitalisation, thanks to its seating layout, its large, wide interactive screen and a steering wheel very much in the style of that of the new Tesla Model S Plaid.

The platform on which this new SUV will be built is the already familiar E-GMP, which we can see in contemporary models such as the KIA EV6 (test) or the Hyundai IONIQ 5 (test), two models we have been able to test at Highmotor.

With the launch of these electric models, KIA will become a fully electric brand in Europe by 2035, joining the plans of other brands such as Volkswagen, Alfa Romeo, Opel, Audi, Renault or Volvo, among many others.
