EV5 KIA Electric Cars Concepts SUV
Kia EV5 Concept, the more compact version of the newly presented EV9
The new Kia EV5 Concept aims to offer a more compact model than the EV9, with five seats and a very comfortable ride, to introduce people to electric mobility

It has only been a few days since we had the chance to meet the Kia EV9, the new electric SUV with which the Korean brand wants to advance electric mobility with an appealing and very attractive product. Now it’s the turn of a somewhat smaller model, but one that follows the design line of the previous model. This is the Kia EV5 Concept, a compact version that keeps the image of its predecessor, with more restrained proportions.
The intended market for this car is China, at least at first. The “Opposites United” design language is still present in this model. In addition, the front end becomes even more modern and contemporary, with even more discreet headlights. This will probably change in the production version because, let’s remember, this is a concept and it will undergo several changes before going into production.

The final model is expected to have a length of almost five metres, so it will have restrained proportions but plenty of space to offer comfort. By the way, the concept features rotating seats and does without the B-pillar, the one usually located in the middle of the car, which gives a greater sense of freedom.

As for the architecture underpinning this concept vehicle, it is expected that the 800-volt E-GMP platform on which the EV9 is built will also be present in this model. It may be equipped with a DE battery of up to 77 kWh of capacity, which could offer a range of up to 500 kilometres. This platform also allows V2L charging, that is, bidirectional.
It is expected to arrive with several battery options and even with four-wheel drive or only two-wheel drive. There are still many unknowns about this model, but it is expected to reach the market at the end of the year. That is when we will know all the details and be able to find out what the versions arriving in Europe, or so we hope, will be like.
