KIA starts accepting orders for the EV3 in South Korea from around 28,500 euros at the current exchange rate

The prices of the different versions of the KIA EV3 on the South Korean market suggest that this small SUV could be, thanks to its price, the vehicle many were waiting for to make the definitive leap into electric mobility.

KIA has officially launched its new affordable electric SUV on the South Korean market. This very week the company has begun accepting orders for this model, with a starting price in this country of just under 28,500 euros at the current exchange rate (42.08 million South Korean won). The EV3 is KIA’s fourth electric model based on the E-GMP platform and the first of its new affordable next-generation line.

The company had hinted several times at the launch of this new low-cost electric model before its debut last month. The EV3 takes the design and technology we already saw on the EV9, the brand’s flagship, compressing it into a smaller package and at a much lower price.

The South Korean manufacturer nevertheless insists that the EV3 has its own identity, which particularly stands out against its rivals in the same segment. One of its most notable features is its front grille, whose design the company says resembles a “Tiger Face” –Tiger Face-. KIA has redesigned all its new electric models following this new design line, thereby distinguishing itself from the competition.

Innovative outside and inside too

Inside, technology is the main protagonist, with KIA’s new-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit infotainment system. This new system includes dual 12.3-inch screens with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As we have already mentioned, KIA opened orders for the new EV3 this very week in South Korea, with a starting price of just under 28,500 euros at the current exchange rate (42.08 million South Korean won) before tax incentives. Contracts at the brand’s dealerships and showrooms began to be signed nationwide last Tuesday, with great expectations regarding the sales volume KIA can achieve with this affordable electric model.

Above the EV3’s entry-level version, KIA offers the Earth version for around 31 thousand euros at the current exchange rate (KRW 45.71 million South Korean won). Meanwhile, the GT Line and Long Range versions cost around 31,700 euros (46.66 million South Korean won). All these prices are also before tax incentives, so the final price for the buyer will be lower.

The affordable electric car many were waiting for

The South Korean manufacturer trusts that once the amount of these incentives is confirmed, the price of the standard EV3 version will drop to around 27,100 euros at the current exchange rate (39.95 million South Korean won). Meanwhile, the higher GT Line and Long Range versions could come in at around 29,900 euros (44.15 million South Korean won). The company expects to receive final confirmation from the South Korean government on the amount of these incentives in the coming weeks, so that first deliveries can begin next July.

KIA plans to bring the EV3 to Europe towards the end of the year, and although it has not yet revealed prices for that market, the already announced prices for South Korea suggest it will undoubtedly be one of the most accessible and interesting electric models we will be able to find in the coming months.
