KIA unveils a new compact camper in Korea that's going to surprise you

The market for camperised vans keeps growing at a very fast pace. Many manufacturers are preparing their vehicles to turn them into motorhomes, and some of them break with the idea we have of this type of vehicle. Work is even underway on models that, in principle, don’t have the image we might think is most suitable for this kind of vehicle. The KIA Ray is a city car that has been used to create a camper and, to be honest, it’s quite surprising.

This model is quite reminiscent of the KIA Soul and its sale is limited to the Korean market. Despite its compact size, it is a camper that has room for four people, so it’s quite appealing for getting out and enjoying free time in nature.

The company responsible for this conversion into a camper is Daon TNT, which has managed to maximise the space in this model so that it can accommodate four people. The camper version is called the Daon Ravy, and with it they have managed to ensure that the idea of a small-sized camper is not a drawback for resting comfortably during holiday trips.

To do this, there are two large beds. One is set up over the rear seats, while the other is located in the pop-up roof . At the back, a kitchen has been installed with a sliding system, which hides in a storage compartment when not in use. It has a sink and a burner.

What this camperised model does not have is a toilet or a shower. For these, you will have to rely on the facilities of a campsite, but it can serve for those getaways that make holidays or weekends something exciting. It comes with an additional 100 Ah battery, as well as 220-volt and 12-volt sockets and USB ports for mobile devices.

The price of this model in South Korea is the equivalent of 19,000 euros, and they have no plans to bring it out of the country. That will be a shame, because a camperised compact vehicle with these characteristics would be quite well received in the European market, where such vehicles are increasingly present.
