Km0 cars: an alternative to buying new vehicles
Km0 cars offer discounts of up to 20% compared to their original price. This happens because they have been registered, but not sold after four months.
Km0 cars are vehicles that have already been registered, but that have not yet been sold after a period of four months. This type of vehicle is registered for commercial reasons, so in practical terms it cannot be classed as a new car. This causes a depreciation in these vehicles, which makes them a very attractive alternative to brand-new cars.
Deciding to buy a vehicle is an important choice. Choosing the make, model and its different versions is not an easy task. Moreover, price is usually one of the main factors when choosing a vehicle. However, external factors also influence the buyer’s decision-making: personal and work situation, future expectations, needs, etc.
This is where price and external circumstances converge at the same point: looking for maximum savings, but with the greatest possible performance. The intention to buy a km0 car reaches 83.3% in our country, according to the ‘V Online Comparison Study towards Smart Savings’ by Rastreator.
The differences with nearly-new or second-hand cars
Km0 cars have low mileage, as they normally do not exceed 100 km on their odometer. In addition, another major difference is that these cars have not been used by anyone; the only use they have had is transport at the time of registration or to take them through the car wash. Although by definition they cannot be classed as new, the buyer will practically be the one to break them in.

Although km0 cars may be associated with nearly-new or second-hand cars, there are notable differences. The first is that nearly-new vehicles do not exceed 15,000 km, whereas second-hand cars have exceeded this figure. Likewise, these cars have already been driven by other drivers, unlike km0 cars.
Where to look for km0 cars?
Today we have various web portals or online comparison sites that allow us to analyse each car in detail. These applications give us access to the features and prices of the selected km0 vehicles.
On the other hand, there are specialist dealerships for km0 cars, where we can see the product firsthand. The possibility of analysing the vehicle in person and even test-driving it will help us make a more informed purchase decision.
The advantages of buying a km0 car
1. A lower price
The main advantage, as we have already mentioned, is the price. Its depreciation after having spent at least four months at the dealership is one of the most attractive factors when making a comparison.
The savings can be decisive and become a fundamental part of the decision to purchase a vehicle in these conditions. These discounts range from 10% to 20% compared to the original price. The reduction will depend on the model and version chosen.
2. “New” vehicle
Although it is not exactly new, in the literal sense, this car has not been used by other users. Its only journey is the one made to the dealership or during test drives carried out with it. Although it cannot be considered new, the use of this car has been practically non-existent, so this will be a very important factor alongside the savings.
3. Direct sale
We avoid dealing with private sellers and access our vehicle directly through dealerships that have km0 cars. Likewise, there is even the possibility of taking the car home at the time of purchase.
The drawbacks of km0 cars
1. Specific and specialist dealerships
These vehicles are not usually found at every dealership. Therefore, the search for km0 cars must be somewhat more specific and exhaustive. When searching by make and model, we must bear in mind that there is a chance our choice (version, interior trim, engines…) will not be available at your nearest dealership.
Although this is a real possibility, consulting specialised websites or applications will help us find the vehicle we are looking for.

2. Set specification
One of the drawbacks when opting for km0 cars is the limited range offered for the model you are looking for. These vehicles come with pre-set equipment that cannot be modified. Body colour, engine type, fuel type or equipment are some of the specifications we will not be able to change.
However, this disadvantage can actually become an advantage. Firstly, versions with premium equipment may be priced at the same level. That is, we can find the most sought-after features of a car at a lower price. Everything will depend on whether the model we have found matches our preferences.
3. Reduced warranty period
A vehicle’s warranty starts from the moment of registration. Km0 cars have a minimum period of four months since they were registered, but we do not know whether this period is even longer, so we could have lost a good part of the warranty period on the car.
However, depending on the length of time it has been out of stock, we could reach an agreement with the dealership so that the warranty period starts from the moment of purchase.
