Lamborghini Cabrera: the Gallardo's successor

The Lamborghini Gallardo already needed a successor. The Italian brand has been working on the next sports car capable of surpassing the most successful car ever built by Lamborghini, and at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show it will finally have its chance to show itself as a model very close to the production version.
According to the information we had been able to find online, the recently named Cabrera will use the 5.2-litre V10 engine that currently powers the Gallardo LP 570-4, producing 570 hp. For this occasion, however, Lamborghini will add a few extra horses, so the Cabrera is expected to produce around 600 hp.
The Cabrera’s transmission is the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, which is what Lamborghini has announced so far. It is not ruled out that it will also be sold with the 6-speed manual gearbox. However, according to the legendary Sant’Agata Bolognese brand, the automatic offers greater comfort for everyday driving compared with the manual.
Among other details surrounding the Cabrera’s official unveiling, there is talk of the extensive use of aluminium and carbon fibre in its construction, since the platform of the Gallardo’s successor will be shared with the Audi R8. The main advantage for the Cabrera will be a much lower weight than the previous Gallardo. Final weight is said to be under 1,300 kilos for the rear-wheel-drive versions; for the Cabrera 4×4 the weight would increase by an additional 30 kilos.
Finally, the final price being discussed is close to 170,000 euros for the all-wheel-drive version. There will also be a convertible launched one year after the coupé version, although the final price of these last two models has not been specified.
