Luxury car sales are rising in Spain. Is the crisis over?

Luxury car sales in Spain grew in 2016 compared with the previous year. Almost all manufacturers sold more units from their dealerships than in 2015, which is undoubtedly a sign of the recovery of the car sector that our country is going through. Let us remember that most models are not affected by the PIVE Plan, so we should not consider it the cause of this change.
Car sales grew by 11% in Spain in 2016 compared with the previous year, and luxury cars have contributed to this improvement. The premium manufacturers, which we all hope to buy a car from at some point in our lives, ended 2016 with better sales figures than in previous years. ANFAC, the National Association of Car and Truck Manufacturers, attributes this increase to the country’s economic recovery and strong tourist activity.
Porsche continues to be the manufacturer in this sector that sells the most vehicles in our country. In 2016, 2,204 vehicles of the Stuttgart brand were registered, 129 more than the previous year; the best seller was the Macan. In the ranking, Maserati follows with 275 sales, 87 more than last year, with the Ghibli as its best-selling model.

If we talk about exclusive cars, for just over a month now the Tesla models can be bought in our country, which has had a very positive effect on sales of the American manufacturer in Spain. Its growth has been 400%, going from selling just 11 units in 2015 to 55 in 2016. The best-selling model is the Model S, whose price exceeds 80,000 euros.
Curiously, Tesla holds third place in this ranking, ahead of Ferrari. The Maranello manufacturer sold 54 cars in 2016, two fewer than the previous year, making it one of the few brands that went backwards.
Another brand that stands out in the luxury vehicle sales table in Spain is McLaren, which went from not selling a single car to registering three in 2016. Two of them were McLaren 650S, a model valued at more than 230,000 euros.
