BMW shows the i Inside Future concept, a model focused on technology

Concept models tend to be quite strange, although there are times when they look something very alien. Such is the case of the BMW i Inside Future, which has been seen at the CES in Las Vegas, the great showcase of consumer technology being held these days. This prototype is not meant to be the sample model for future references. What the German manufacturer intends is to show us its innovations in the technology that we will find in the interiors of its cars.

For that reason, the car does not have an aerodynamic design, nor even a logical one, let’s be honest. It is a showcase car, but to showcase the interior, not the exterior. The main idea is that the cars that will be equipped with this interior will be autonomous, so they will not need the driver’s hands to be driven. So we will be able to see how one interacts with the car itself while it does other things that will certainly not involve worrying about driving.

Some of these elements are already integrated into several models of the brand, although in this prototype they evolve and become something even more interesting. For example, the BMW HoloActive Touch, which elevates gesture-based control thanks to a holographic simulation that allows greater control of the system. A camera tracks the movements of the hand and maps them onto the hologram, so that everything fits perfectly and there are no problems when executing commands.

The driver will also be able to feel a pulse on the finger with which they manipulate the system, thanks to a system that emits a slight pulse felt on the fingertip, even though there is no real contact with a screen. Speaking of audio, the prototype features the BMW Sound Curtain, which allows sound to reach only the occupant of each seat, since the speaker system is located in the headrests, so that each occupant can listen to their own music, with all the quality offered by a powerful and high-quality sound system.

In the rear, you can enjoy a multimedia system based on a screen that unfolds from the ceiling to keep the occupants of these seats entertained. Many of these applications will be ready to be installed in several models of the brand, although it will be difficult to find a car that has all of them. Either way, it is a good sample of what technology applied to the automotive sector will soon offer us.
