Madrid has launched a new edition, specifically the third, of the Cambia 360 plan. From 24 March until 8 May, you can apply for aid of up to €8,500 for scrapping your car and buying a newer, greener model. The new call for the Cambia 360 aid for the renewal of private vehicles seeks to renew the car fleet in Madrid.

Borja Carabante, Councillor for the Environment and Mobility of Madrid City Council, has stated that the aid will range between €3,000 and €6,000 depending on the type of vehicle and its emissions. Specifically, for this third call, more than €3.5 million has been reserved for the purchase of fully electric vehicles and €6 million for the purchase of vehicles with an ECO label.

In addition, these amounts of €3,000 and €6,000 will be increased by up to €2,500 if a vehicle without an environmental label is scrapped, i.e. a petrol model older than 2000 or a diesel model prior to 2006. Models with a C label will also have an allocation of €500,000 that will allow new users to obtain discounts of up to €2,500 provided a vehicle without an environmental label is handed in.

The news does not end here: these aids may be increased by 10% if personal circumstances apply, such as large families, reduced mobility or degrees of disability. Likewise, expenditure of €10 million has been authorised for the acquisition of more sustainable vehicles and to “accelerate the elimination of the most polluting vehicles in the city, one of the objectives set out in the environmental sustainability strategy Madrid 360 to improve air quality”.

In addition, the Environment and Mobility area has reserved €4 million in credit for a possible extension of this third call of the Cambia 360 plan. It should be noted that with this measure, “the aim is to help reduce pollution in the city, mainly due to nitrogen oxides and particulates and greenhouse gases caused by road traffic, as well as to improve electromobility and promote sustainable mobility”.
