McLaren has already sold 20 MP4-12C GT3s to private teams

McLaren has already started to cash in on the MP4-12C GT3 it will sell to private teams for the 2012 GT season, selling and taking reservations for the first 20 cars, even though, as a show of strength, the 1,000 km of Spa was a somewhat bumpy outing for the British marque.

At a price of 360,000 euros at the current exchange rate, each team will also have the right to use the services of McLaren’s engineers to develop and present the car in competition.

As a curiosity, the MP4-12C GT3 will be delivered with the same steering wheel used by Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren MP4-24 in the Formula 1 World Championship. It is also worth noting that McLaren has enlisted almost all of the same suppliers it uses for the F1 car to build the MP4-12C, keeping costs under control for those customer teams that wish to buy it.
