Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé 2016

When Mercedes-Benz unveils the new generation of the C-Class Coupé, we are all eager to see what its arrival promises. For a few weeks now it has been releasing camouflaged images of the C63 AMG variant, and its presentation is confirmed shortly, but on this occasion we focus on the Mercedes C-Class Coupé 2016, whose new look will represent the design of the spiciest AMG and the foundation for the star brand to once again enter the competitive segment of sporty coupés.

The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class has already been presented, so the coupé version adopts the main design features of its range siblings, with a clear and pronounced influence from the Mercedes S-Class Coupé. Compared with its predecessor, the new C-Class Coupé is 9.5 cm longer, 4 cm wider and has a wheelbase 8 cm longer. The suspension, compared with the saloon and estate variants, will be 15 mm lower to generate a greater sense of sportiness.

Interior roominess will increase given the leap in size on the exterior, so it will be somewhat more competitive in terms of rear-seat space. It will also provide more room for the shoulders, hips and head in all seats, including the rear ones, which often fall short in coupés because of this handicap. Several upholstery colours will be available for the seats: brown, white, black and turquoise.

On the dynamic side, and at its market launch, which is expected by the end of this year, the new Mercedes C-Class Coupé will offer a range of engines made up of six different units. The petrol options will be the most numerous, with four in total and outputs of 156, 184, 211 and 245 CV from 1.6 and 2.0 litre displacements, while the diesel units will produce 170 or 204 CV. All of them, at the same time, will come standard with Start & Stop and compliance with Euro 6 emissions regulations.

In terms of technology, the C-Class Coupé 2016 will feature assistants such as adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist capable of following the vehicle ahead, automatic emergency braking, a 360º camera parking assistant, and a climate control system that works with information supplied by the vehicle’s navigation system.

In terms of safety, the new C-Class Coupé comes with a comprehensive set of airbags providing protection against frontal impacts with knee airbags, as well as protection against side impacts, with airbags protecting the chest and pelvis as well as the well-known curtain airbags.

And as far as connectivity is concerned, the new C-Class coupé features Bluetooth connection for mobile devices as well as the Audio 20 system with internet connection, which makes it easy to browse the web when the car is stationary. A central screen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels allows reception of digital television and radio, navigation with hard drive, WLAN internet access and LINGUATRONIC voice control.
