Mercedes-Benz GLE: prices of the new SUV from the star brand

In February 2019 the new Mercedes-Benz GLE arrives at dealerships, in GLE 300 d 4MATIC and GLE 450 4MATIC versions, with a starting price from 67,000 euros.

We already told you about all the news brought by the update to the Mercedes-Benz GLE 2019, but we were still missing the most important thing: knowing the prices. Now, the star brand has just made official that the GLE 300 d 4MATIC will be available from 67,000 euros. For its part, the price of the GLE 450 4MATIC starts at 79,600 euros.

These two will be the launch versions, which will go on sale in February 2019. More engine options will be added later, including the arrival of a plug-in hybrid variant.

The contradiction of the “mild-hybrids”

The Mercedes GLE 300 d 4MATIC uses a 4-cylinder, 2-liter turbodiesel engine with 254 CV and 500 Nm of torque. It is homologated (WLTP cycle converted to NEDC) with an average consumption from 6.1 l/100 km, and CO2 emissions from 161 g/km.

For its part, the powerful petrol GLE 450 4MATIC features a 3-liter, 6-cylinder in-line engine with 367 CV and the same maximum torque. Its consumption in this case starts at 8.3 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 190 g/km.

Now comes the “contradiction”: the most powerful version, with higher consumption and emissions, qualifies for the ECO environmental label of the DGT, by incorporating technology mild-hybrid 48-volt. Let’s hope they fix this “nonsense” soon.

In any case, thanks to an electric motor that acts as an integrated starter motor, capable of delivering an additional torque of 250 Nm and 22 CV of power when the EQ Boost function is activated, the GLE 450 4MATIC can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Both engines come standard with the new fully variable 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and with the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox.

The standard equipment is very complete, as is the endless list of options. As is usual with Mercedes, many are grouped into packs, such as the AMG Line exterior packages (from 4,110 euros) and AMG Line exterior and interior (4,527 euros), the Night Package (727 euros) or the Premium Plus Package (6,211 euros). It is also possible to choose individual options.
