Mercedes-Benz has released a video showing the parking “skills” that the brand’s upcoming models will be able to equip.

It is an autonomous parking system similar to the one available as an option on the new generation of the BMW 7 Series.

In the video we can make out a vehicle from the brand with the star that is not yet on sale. What is more, it is a saloon in camouflage livery, covered in vinyls and stickers that prevent us from clearly distinguishing the shape of the new model. It is the next generation of the E-Class, which will be unveiled next year.

However, we can make out the basic lines of the new generation of the E-Class, which will be much more rounded and dynamic than before, following the design language already established by the current C-Class and S-Class. It also promises a leading technology load within its segment, with differentiating elements such as this autonomous parking system.

The system appears to be relatively simple to use. When we arrive at the place where we want to park the vehicle, we only need to get out of the car and run an app previously downloaded to our smartphone. Through it, the car and the phone begin to communicate, and the parking sequence will start.

The driver will only need to move a finger for the car to begin the sequence, and can interrupt the manoeuvre at any time by stopping the circular movement of their finger. These systems will be a great improvement in convenience when parking in excessively narrow car parks, where the car does fit in, but then we cannot get out of it.
