First images and details of the facelifted Mercedes GLK 2012

The new design language from the Stuttgart firm seems not to stop at the Class B and Class A, but also reaches the facelifted Mercedes GLK 2012. The SUV receives a restyling that updates its exterior lines, renews the interior and gains more standard equipment.

On the outside, the most notable change is the new front end, with softer, rounder lines, as well as new light clusters similar to those of the Class B (with xenon headlights as standard). At the rear it also gets new lights and redesigned bumpers.

Inside, we now find the air vents introduced on the B-Class, and the gear lever has moved next to the steering wheel to free up space in the centre console. As for equipment, there is a new multimedia system with Bluetooth connectivity and compatibility with different devices, and safety equipment has been improved, with Pre-Safe and lane departure warning now available, among other systems.

The engine range for diesel will offer outputs between 143 CV and 265 CV, while petrol versions will be available with up to 306 CV in the 350 model. Personally, I think they have gone a bit far with the front end lines, but the GLK was a difficult model to update given the robustness of its design.

As a teaser, Mercedes they have shown us the first photo of the 2012 G-Class, which now incorporates LED daytime running lights at the front (last photo in the gallery). We will wait for more details on the model.
