Estates are not usually prepared to drive on different types of terrain and seek the comfort of asphalt. To address this, the Mercedes Clase E All-Terrain offers several features that make it more versatile on different terrain. This variant of the model allows access to places where others would think twice before entering, and offers good behavior when driving on these surfaces.

The main difference, and what allows it to drive off-road, is the greater ground clearance, together with larger wheels and all-wheel drive 4MATIC. Its exterior maintains the elegant look of the E-Class, but adds a series of features that bring it closer to the SUV world. More pronounced wheel arches and an SUV-style radiator grille. All of this, without forgetting that it is an estate.

If the front look is impressive, combining the image of the Estate with off-road capabilities, the side is no less attractive, with black wheel arch cladding. The side sills also use this color for emphasis, combined with a chrome strip that enhances the contrast. The wheels can be of three types, 19 and 20 inches, depending on the driver’s taste.

The All-Terrain combines the features of an estate and an off-roaderAt the rear the differences are also marked, with a three-module bumper that has been designed exclusively for this model. The protections are also more robust to enhance the SUV look and it looks more attractive than the estate version.

The interior has also been worked on to offer an exclusive look. A decorative element made of carbon fiber and aluminum exclusive to the All-Terrain is present in the cabin, which also features stainless steel sports pedals and floor mats exclusive to the All-Terrain range. The interior design of this model comes from the AVANTGARDE interior, although it also has the option of including optional elements from the EXCLUSIVE line.

Regarding the engine, the Mercedes Clase E All-Terrain will go on sale with the 4-cylinder diesel engine, in the E 220 d 4MATIC format. This offers a power output of 194 CV, although a six-cylinder diesel engine will be offered later. For now we have to wait for its presentation, which will take place at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, in early October.
